Official Fauquier Warrant and Court Contacts
Use the office that holds the record or controls the next step:
- Warrant/Fugitive Unit: routine warrant operations contact, (540) 422-8667. The unit tracks and apprehends open warrants and coordinates with Warrenton Police. For urgent 24-hour warrant or fugitive inquiries, the Sheriff lists (540) 347-3300.
- Fauquier General District Court: adult misdemeanor and traffic matters, 6 Court Street, Warrenton, (540) 422-8035.
- Fauquier Circuit Court Clerk: felony indictments, Circuit capias, and Circuit records, 29 Ashby Street, Warrenton, (540) 422-8100.
- Fauquier JDR Court: juvenile, family, and child-support matters, 14 Main Street, Warrenton, (540) 422-8040. Access is restricted by confidentiality rules.
- Adult Detention Center: current custody and bonding channels, 50 West Lee Street, Warrenton, (540) 422-8700.
Numbers, schedules, and duties can change. Visit the relevant official court or county page to confirm current information. Emergency calls belong to 911, not a public-record request line.
Where to Send a Fauquier Records Request
For a Sheriff, Adult Detention Center, or 911 record, the Sheriff’s Professional Standards Division handles FOIA requests. The official Sheriff FOIA page lists mail to FCSO, ATTN Professional Standards Division, 78 West Lee Street, Warrenton, VA 20186; email sheriff.FOIA@fauquiercounty.gov; and phone (540) 422-8600. Agency records are subject to Virginia FOIA rules and exemptions.
For a court file, contact the clerk for that court. A court clerk’s copy procedure is not the same as a Sheriff FOIA request. Fauquier GDC’s local rules distinguish requests for open or pending files from closed or archived files and explain copy arrangements. Ask the clerk whether a request should be written and whether fees or a cost estimate apply.
Describe an existing record, case or incident number if known, approximate date range, and preferred delivery format. A request for a new searchable list of every open warrant may not be a record the office maintains, and protected investigative, juvenile, sealed, or victim information may be withheld.
Contact Fauquier About a Personal Case
If you are trying to understand or resolve a warrant involving you, consult a Virginia attorney and identify the issuing court. The court controls whether a capias is recalled, bond is changed, or another order is entered; the Sheriff serves or tracks process but cannot replace that court action. A commercial search result or this site cannot safely arrange a surrender or promise an outcome.
If a person is already in custody, contact the Adult Detention Center or the receiving facility for booking and bond information. The county’s public custody information has limits, including restricted court-date and release-date details for security. If a family member is asking about juvenile or family proceedings, contact JDR or counsel rather than submitting a general Sheriff records request.

This site does not accept warrant-search requests or hold official records. The pages link to government sources so readers can reach the correct custodian directly. If a listed address, link, or procedure appears incorrect, use the government source itself to confirm the latest information.
